sammi's 2nd birthday party

We had Sammi's 2nd birthday party last weekend because I didn't want to schedule the party too close to my due date. :) She is a Dora The Explorer fanatic, so we wanted to do some sort of Dora party. Since Sammi likes a lot of Mexican food, we decided to do a DORA FIESTA!

Dan and I spent the night before doing most of the preparation, and my parents came over about an hour before the party to entertain Sam and help with last-minute details, like balloons! :)
Grandpa Sherman entertained Sam while Grandma Sherman helped chop onions and tomatoes, make punch, and more!
We invited Dora to the party and she flew in for it. :)
Fiesta straws...
A sombrero filled with drinks!
Dan's sister, Jenny, made this AWESOME Dora cake---THANK YOU SO MUCH JENNY!!! After our 3-D duck cake last year, I did not feel up to the cake challenge this year, so she offered to do this adorable cake, which mimics the show perfectly! It is a map of the journey to Sammi's Fiesta!

We had an appetizer table full of goodies and a taco bar too! YUM!!!
What a big girl...sitting at her own table!

Excited to eat cake...
And....blowing out the candles!!!!
YUMMY!!!!
Sammi had a blast opening her presents. She knew the drill coming out of Christmas!
She got lots of great stuff, including a Mrs Potato head!
Everyone watched as she opened her gifts.

Uncle Steve and Aunt Krystal gave her these awesome Elmo slippers, which she loves!
Eating Dora fruit snacks from one of the guest gift bags...
Putting together a new Dora puzzle with Grandma.
And... exhausted from the day, she curled up on the floor with her new Dora blanket!
She, Dora, and her cousin Brad enjoyed some rest time together after the party!
Thank you so much to our families for driving in to celebrate with Sammi! We had such a good time at the Dora Fiesta!!! Happy Birthday, Samantha!!! We love you, you BIG GIRL!!!! :) :) :)
